Our Early Education Outreach Music Program involves going to charter schools, preschools, and other educational institutions to deliver music education and appreciation through storytelling. Each week, the children will be told a story about one of the creatures of the Wood Don Forest, and the music will play, telling the story while the children are instructed to draw or color their character. At the end, they will have their own booklet to keep, reminding them of how fun it was to be creative in the Wood Don Forest.
Our Children's Community Choir is a new addition to the WoodDon Forest Project, which seeks to bring together children of all backgrounds to learn and perform music. The choir will be open to all children and will focus on building musical skills, teamwork, and community. We hope to use the choir as a platform for children to come together and create positive change in the world through their shared love of music.
Our after-school program offers music education classes for scholarship students, starting with piano lessons. Our program is designed to be fun, engaging, and interactive, with a focus on building self-confidence and encouraging students to take chances. Students will learn the basic understanding of how the piano works, the basic layout of the piano, and how to play through level one of the Woodon Forest booklet. We hope to expand this program in the future to include other musical instruments and areas of study.
Our Internships for Our Future Teachers program is designed to help local artists and teachers increase their skills and share their skills with others. The program offers internships to individuals who are interested in working with the WoodDon Forest Project to develop and improve its programs. Interns will have the opportunity to learn about the various programs offered by the project and to gain hands-on experience working with students and community members. We hope that these individuals will take the materials and programs in progress from the WoodDon Forest Project and recreate them in their own communities, thereby spreading the project's mission and vision.
Our Elder Outreach Program brings music into elder care homes, nursing homes, and other facilities. We believe that music has a positive impact on the health and well-being of elderly individuals through music education. Performers and deliverers of the music programs will be individuals from the community, special guests from off the island, and groups from the community. Through this program, we hope to create a sense of community and connection between people of all ages..
Our WoodDon Forest Musical is a program for local performers and guest artists to come and perform parts of the stories of the Wood Don Forest and their own music. The program seeks pianists, singers, jazz artists, all string instruments, dancers, and drummers to be a part of this musical extravaganza. This program is designed to be entertaining, uplifting, and inspiring, with a focus on promoting community and collaboration. The musical will showcase the talent of the performers and provide a platform for the audience to enjoy the music and storytelling of the Wood Don Forest Project.
Our Art/Drama Education Class is a new addition to the after-school program that offers classes in visual art and drama for scholarship students. The program is designed to be fun, engaging, and interactive, with a focus on building self-confidence and encouraging students to explore their creativity. We hope to use this program to provide students with a well-rounded education in the arts and to foster a deeper understanding of the connections between music, art, and storytelling.
